Jagwar Ma

Jagwar Ma is made up of Jono Ma and Gabriel Winterfield. Jono describes the band’s formation as a journey from their time in Berlin:

“When I was living in Berlin we would go to a bar called Club Bassy, where they only played vinyl from the 40s/50s/60s and we would dance our pants off. Afterwards we would go to Panorama Bar, where they only play vinyl from the year 2000+ and we would dance our pants off to deep, deep techno and house. There was something about that journey each weekend in Berlin. I wanted to start a project that somehow combined those two unlikely worlds.”

So far, they only have only dropped two tracks, but are currently working on an album. “Come Save Me” starts with a beach boys-y vibe, but finishes with a catchy synth line bounce. “What Love?” explores more electronic territory with rolling bass lines. Also, the Bumblebeez remix of “Come Save Me” is an excellent dance party tune…don’t miss it. Finally, Jono remixed a Bumblebeez track called “Betty Jane” resulting in an ethereal computer-voice sung track. This batch of songs sure creates a lot of excitement for the upcoming album.
