What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?

The Vaccines haven’t even been a band for a year, but they’ve already released an album that hit number 4 on the UK charts, not to mention their sell out concert in London (their first live performance in the city) attended by the frontmen of Franz Ferdinand and Mumford and Sons. Their debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? dropped last month and is probably atop my list of albums for 2011 so far. The Vaccines describe their influences as “’50s rock ‘n’ roll, ’60s garage and girl groups, ’70s punk, ’80s American hardcore, C86 and good pop music”. The easy comparison upon first listen is to The Ramones, but lead singer Justin Young offers a lot more range and the album has solid production. The album has it’s punk tracks like “Wreckin’ bar (ra ra ra)” and “Norgaard”, but also has surf-rocking “Blow It Up”, the soaring “Wetsuit”, and an epic “Family Friend”. This is one album you don’t want to miss out on. Check out the tracks below or head to their Soundcloud page for a preview.
