Around Sound: Megafaun

Megafaun are a heavily bearded trio from right around the corner in Durham, North Carolina. Their roots rock rambling makes for one hell of a show and they kicked ass at Hopscotch. The guys released a mini-album this week called Heretofore, which contains the track “Volunteers”, which you can grab below. You gotta love a song with lyrics like “Sunlight, silhouettes, and dogwood trees / swaying all along in the Carolina breeze”.

Megafaun – Volunteers

You can check Megafaun out this weekend in Durham at the Hayti Heritage Center with Sharon VanĀ  Etten and Bon Iver. They are playing Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. More info is here. Also in my filming debut, I’ve posted a video I took from Hopscotch to Megafaun from the Friday Hometapes day-party at Pour House. The band got the crowd to sing different parts of the backing harmony before dropping back into the song. The video is amateur, but the performance was anything but.

  1. I missed them this weekend, but how were their shows? As awesome as hopscotch? Did you go to all three?
