Ryan Bingham Lauches “Bingham Bootleg Video Series”

In anticipation of his upcoming release, Junky Star, available August 31st on Lost Highway, Academy Award-winning singer/songwriter Ryan Bingham will begin previewing the new material online through the launch of the “Bingham Bootleg Video Series”- an original collection of unreleased, acoustic versions of the 12 highly anticipated songs. Every intimately shot bootleg video will feature Bingham/T-Bone Burnett-produced release.

The first bootleg video of the series recently debuted on The Huffington Post for the song ‘Depression,’ which will also be the first official single release off the forthcoming Junky Star. ‘Depression,’ along with a majority of the songs contained on the new album, is based upon Bingham’s honest, heartfelt reflection towards the current condition of our country, drawn from his own personal observations & experiences. “All these songs are about the past couple years, traveling around the country, the people I’ve met, and the state the country is in,” explains Bingham. “’Depression’ is actually a love story that takes place during the time of the Great Depression, yet the irony is in the idea that we can still somehow find ourselves identifying with it today.” The ‘Depression’ bootleg video is currently available to view on BinghamMusic.com (http://binghammusic.com/media.html), and the Single will be available in all major digital retailers starting August 10th. The additional videos in the “Bingham Bootleg Video Series” will correspond to the 11 remaining tracks from Junky Star (see complete track listing below), and will continuously debut over the next few months.

Both the video series & the single’s release launch on the heels of a successful string of private performances showcasing the new material – all received with standing ovations & early critical praise. Spinner recently responded that “ performing solo, live in a variety of settings – showcasing each individual song in its most raw & stripped down form, and thus giving audiences a rare opportunity to candidly experience the emotion-filled vocals & descriptive lyrics that dominate the soulful musician’s latest whether he was singing or tuning his guitar, he grabbed the listener’s attention wholeheartedly… while the crowd no doubt wanted to hear more from Bingham, the [45-minute] set was a more-than-adequate preview of what’s to come for the soulful musician,” while Popmatters declared “the new album could well be Bingham’s best work.”

These previews marked the first taste of the new material following Ryan Bingham’s recent work on the acclaimed ballad “The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart),” which led to both an Oscar and Golden Globe win for the talented young roots-rock singer/songwriter – ultimately introducing his music to a newer and ever expanding audience. Bingham was also recently featured on 2 major compilations, each comprised of a select group of talented, up & coming musicians: The “Levi’s Pioneer Sessions 2010 Revival Recordings” – which invited the pioneering artists of our generation to re-craft the songs that inspired them, and “HBO’s HUNG Original Television Soundtrack,” – a unique blend of songs appearing in the distinctive show, which also featured musicians such as The Black Keys and Grant Lee Phillips. In September, Bingham will be up for 3 awards at the pending Americana Music Awards, with nominations for “Artist of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” & “New & Emerging Artist of the Year.” The same month, Ryan Bingham & The Dead Horses will hit the road for a run of tour dates in support of Junky Star – opening for Willie Nelson along the West Coast, and then headlining shows throughout the East Coast in November.
