New Radiohead Album News!

English rockers Radiohead have been recording their eighth album since this past January with producer Nigel Godrich. In an interview today with BBC 6 Music, for which the podcast is unavailable outside the UK, guitarist Ed O’Brien said the band was “in the heart of [recording] now… I think this is the best record we’ve ever made, it’s very different to the type of music we were making last time, and it just feels so good to be making music again with the band that are as good as they ever were.” O’brien had previously posted the following on the Radiohead website last winter: “The vibe in the camp is fantastic at present, and we head off into the studio in January to continue on from the work we started last summer…10 years ago we were all collectively (that’s the band) in the land of Kid A .. and although hugely proud of that record, it wasn’t a fun place to be…What’s reassuring now, is that we are most definitely a different band, which should therefore mean that the music is different too and that is the aim of the game.”

We at The Sound Medium are extremely psyched to hear Radiohead is so close to wrapping up another album. A band member calling it the best album they’ve ever made is a huge claim, but if even it can’t live up to Kid A, OK Computer, Amnesiac, and In Rainbows, we won’t be upset.

Check out the video below for “House Of Cards” off In Rainbows. In lieu of traditional cameras, the video is made with lidar technology which detects the proximity of objects from the sensor. Sheets of acrylic glass and mirrors are passed in front of the lasers to create scenes in which the image appears distorted, partially disappears, or begins to disintegrate as if being carried by wind.
