Hopscotch Music Festival Downtown Raleigh | Sept 9, 10, 11

According to New Raleigh, Independent Weekly is putting on a festival in Downtown Raleigh this coming fall. No acts or venues have been confirmed yet, but rumors have it there are some “VERY big names” being considered.

The event will be called Hopscotch and will occur from September 9th-11th in multiple indoor music venues in Downtown Raleigh as well as a big “main stage” presence in City Plaza on Fayetteville Street. Lots of local acts are being courted as well as some VERY big names in the national music industry.

Triangle Music says, “the festival is set to span 10 venues in downtown Raleigh and host a whopping 120 bands…The venues will include Tir Na Nog, The Pour House, Slim’s and even City Plaza on on Fayetteville Street.”

Some initial comparisons might be drawn to Charlotte’s CenterCity Fest (past acts include Foo Fighters, Widespread Panic, Bob Dylan, moe., Keller Williams, Gov’t Mule) or Atlanta’s Music Midtown Fest (Claypool, MMW, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, and loads of contemporary rock, classic rock, country, and rap…it is ATL), but until we have an idea of the number or tickets they intend to sell or number of acts they put up, we’re just guessing.

Ticketing structure and initial lineup is expected to be announced Feb 18. Stay tuned.
