Under The Radar: Jonquil
Jonquil are an outfit from Oxford that has just dropped a new album this month called Point Of Go. This is the first album since a line up change that saw them go from a 6-piece to 4-piece and it’s also the first time they’ve recorded an album with this level of production (and not in someone’s bedroom). The result? A crispy album that goes perfectly with this warm weather we’ve been having. The band’s style is a combination of wide-ranging vocals, catchy hooks, and tropical melodies. They’ve been likened to Vampire Weekend, Delorean, and Yeasayer, but they definitely do their own thing. You can check out Point Of Go below. Some highlight tracks are “Swells”, “It’s My Part”, “Point Of Go Part 2″ (especially the second half outro!), and “Run”. Take the jump for some videos of them in the studio.
